How to frame a print

You found prints that you really liked in my shop. Now you wonder how to frame them… I know that going to the framing shop is not always an affordable option, not only that, it’s also time consuming and one more task you don’t want to add to your endless todo list.

That’s exactly why the prints in my shop are offered in 3 standard sizes that fit many frames you can find in various affordable home decor shops.

In this guide I’ll suggest some of my favorite frames and best practices to create a stunning yet affordable wall decor based on my prints.

How to frame prints using Ikea frames

You can use Ikea frames with or without the mat (the inner white frame also called mount or passe-partout), here are the frames options for the 3 different print sizes in my shop:

LARGE print size – 40X50 cm:

Use Ikea 50X70 cm frames with mat (inner print size is 40X50 cm)

This is Ikea LOMVIKEN frame, also available in black.

MEDIUM print size – 30X40 cm:

Use Ikea 40X50 cm frames with mat (inner print size is 30X40 cm) or
Ikea 30X40 cm frames without mat.

This is Ikea HOVSTA frame, also available in white and dark brown wood.

SMALL print size – 21X30 cm:

Use Ikea 30X40 cm frames with mat (inner print size is 21X30 cm) or
Ikea 21X30 cm frames without mat.

This is Ikea HOVSTA frame, also available in white and light wood.

Ikea Picture Ledges

One of my favorite wall decor methods is using a picture ledge, it give you the freedom to mix pictures and other decorating objects and get a unique and personal spot on your wall (and spare the need to drill many holes).

This is Ikea RIBBA series of frames, also available in white.
In the small square frame you can use the stationary cards collection.

All the frames in Ikea come in the same standard sizes, these are my recommended frame series: RIBBA / HOVSTA / LOMVIKEN.
You can find similar standard frames in many online shops.
